Data Reflects Source Release Cycles

According to the Public Plans Database (Boston College Center for Retirement Research with MissionSquare Research and NASRA), the 197 public pension plans we track average roughly a 76% funded ratio, led by CalPERS at $467 billion in market assets, while California carries the largest aggregate unfunded liability at about $408 billion; our methodology explains how every figure is sourced and computed. Records on PlainPension reflect the most recent source data we have processed and can lag an official release. Values can change after we ingest a record, and source data may contain errors or be incomplete. Always confirm the current information directly with the primary source before acting.
